CLOWN ROOM

Acknowledgement

Whilst on the subject of clowns I want to take a moment to acknowledge that clowning and clowns especially here in America has its origins in racism. As you will notice especially with older items such as the ones I have, there are very obviously features that line up with minstrelsy. It isn't a coincidence that many of the features we see in clowns line up with blackface, especially considering how clowns used to present back in the day with facepaint outlining big noses and big lips. I am a white guy, so obviously I am not your best source of information, and I do not want to speak over black voices, so instead I will provide links to articles and videos by black people who can speak more on this subject in a more educational way. Even when talking about non-American clowning history, let it be known that clowns inherently have history with racism and ableism anyhow.

I bring this up not only because of this racist history behind the appearance and demeanor of clowns, but also because it is so very important to discuss racism especially in times like these. Harm does not just fade away with time, harm is something that lasts forever, and it is important to be critical about the things you like. Please do not try and attempt to explain to me how they aren't racist, I do not appreciate people trying to explain away racist aspects of clowns.

CLOWN ROOM

WELLLLLCOME to my Clown Room, or Clown Area... A place for the clownssss as you can imagine. My love for clowns started somewhat as a kid, growing up I did really loveeeee fnaf, homestuck, and undertale, and still do, but what really made me start collecting is some friends of mine. As an adult I had become super interested in displaying these guys much to my family's dismay, but I can't help what I love. A favorite of mine is the Mime, though some may argue it's completely different from a typical clown I'd still say it'd be under the same genus. Other favorites of mine include, Jesters, Harlequins, and Auguste Clowns.

FUN FACT: Did you know, that when I made this neocities back in 2021, my placeholder was my Mimesona! If I were to call myself anything it'd be a mime, as for my nature I tend to be a little quiet, but I find myself still liking the fun of it all y'know! I could fit into other things as well, in fact I do find myself thinking quite jesterly at times, I wouldn't mind being a fool sometimes. my clowns...

Here is my shrine-like area, lots of vintage clown figurines here that I've been given and some I've bought myself.

You can also spot the little white jester guy (gender-neutral) this one is a music box which moves around when wound up!!! The song that plays on this is the theme to somewhere in time. Some of my other favorites of this shrine are the ones on the unicycles, I find them to be quite charming and cute especially the blue haired girl, but I am also fond of the more modern clowns, such as the Foxy and Bonnie plushes (to be clear Foxy is superior) I just really enjoy how they look. Then if you look close you'll see the exclusive Crouchy the Clown figurine from Spirit Halloween, which I find myself enjoying very much! Scare clowns I know are not everyone's favorite, but I still like them! There is a small little guy there, you can barely see him, but once you do you'll shit bricks (JK). In all seriousness that is a clown figurine balancing a rainbow ball with a chihuahua on it, how cute!

In this spot of my room is my shelf of clowns, less shrine-like, but a shrine nonetheless. Now unlike the wardrobe collection this space primarily occupies clowns with music boxes. My favoriest clown in this collection, goes to the one covered in hearts DUHHHHH!!! I find her to be so very cute, heart patterned clothing, a little trumpet, a little frowny, but sooooo cutie!!! There also happens to be a clown here which looks to be made out of gold, and it happens to be the heaviest in my entire collection. The heavy one is made by Ron Lee who also made the ball-balancer, I quite like his works. The purple and yellow clown guy, I got from grandpa as he happens to share an interest, I have lovingly named this one Gimbo and he shall live forever.

FAVORITE CLOWNS IN MEDIA

You consume, I consume, we all consume! Here are my favorites!

You see lots of Kuromi especially in more "kawaii" oriented spaces and it's not hard to see why. Kuromi happens to be in the stance of favorites in regards to my own taste and even my own mom's taste in Sanrio. Plus look at her cool hat totessss awesome!!!

OBLIGATORY CLOWN CHARACTER EVER!!! No, but seriously, I do love this guy. I've always found him to be quite cute and not only that he's part one of my favorite villager types (smug). This guy got so much hate back in the day and now it's not like that anymore, thank goodness!

As a kid I'd play Super Paper Mario on my Wii whenever I didn't wanna play Animal Crossing: City Folk, so not very often... However, this did not stop me from loving the design and personality of Dimentio. As a now adult I think I should replay this at some point and once I do I'll update this section.

Okay, so when I was younger I had a really long fixation on Garfield and all of the shows I could get ahold of. Garfield and Friends was one of my favorites, and when this guy showed up it was epic. I still get his song stuck in my head to this day.

Probably the best villain in DC haha! I don't actually read much of DC or at least, not as much as other people. I like Harley Quinn, I have always liked her, even more than the Joker. I find her to be so much more interesting to be completely honest with you.
